NOT WORTH IT!!!!

Terrible! Terrible! Terrible! The "error" sign appears often and the movies freeze often. HBO and Apple should be utterly embarrassed that theyve put out such a poor product.

Objectively worsened my life

This app and the insane HBO strategy of requiring a mobile device to stream on a laptop have made it all but impossible for me to access HBO content.

Worst playback controls ever

This app has the worst playback controls Ive ever used. Why even pair this with chromecast if you cant even choose to play anything from the beginning? Horrible!

Disappointed

I signed up for HBO NOW because I was given misleading information by the admin on the HBONOW Facebook page. I signed up under the impression that I would be able to enjoy these wonderful shows on HBOGO on my PlayStation 4, guess what? You cant. Unless you are a customer of a very specific list of cable providers (and I mean the list is small) you cant use it. Sorry, Im not about to have a GOT marathon on my stupid I-phone when I have an 80 inch flat screen. Get it together HBO.

Excellent experience so far

Very pleased. I watched GOT live as it aired on the app on my iPhone and used my Apple TV to stream it onto my tv. Extremely glad I did this instead of dealing with my cable provider. Will renew at the end of them month if it continues this well!!

HBO chrome cast

The chrome cast really needs work. There is no rewind or forwarding options, the app easily gets disconnected from chrome cast and it cant even sense where you are on the mobile device when you do the switch to chrome. So you always haft to start from the very beginning!!!

Needs an update SOON!

This app would have an easy 5 stars! If only I didnt have to reconnect to chromecast every SINGLE time I exited out of the app or turned off my phone. Im really hoping an update is coming soon. Im currently on the 30 day free trial but until that problem gets fixed I will not pay $15 for an app that has so many obnoxious glitches. I hope youre taking all these reviews on the app into serious consideration.

Good content, amateur tech

Very specific and frustrating flaw in the auth sign-in. If you sign up via Apple TV and its a subscription "purchase" and later download the app to another iOS device, how would you know that you need to "link" the account? And when you log in with iTunes credentials and it fails, youre locked out. And the kicker--when you send a reset email, no email sends if you havent linked! This is really basic stuff. A decision tree of use case design thatd be mitigated for most professional platforms. HBO is not in the tech business, and it shows.

Pay Crapple = Only works on Crapple products

If you subscribed through another platform like Amazon then Crapple wont let you sign in with the same credentials without paying Crapple $15 a month as well. Once again iTunes proves it is really theirTunes.

Great App, Saves Cash

All these bad reviews must be written by the cable companies. This app work very well on the iPad along with Chromecast. This is getting us one step closer to never dealing with cable and their b.s. fees.

Even after updating the app, HBO now still wont let me sign in.

Terrible app UI

The interface is extremely unintuitive. No option to fast forward or adjust volume while casting to tv. Shame on you HBO. I am using my friends account and will never let you make a dollar off me.

I’ve struggled mightily with this App - had a very long stretch where it barely worked at all. But in the last 2 months I’ve had consistent playback with no issues and will happily revise my 1 star review to 4 stars - waiting for a better user interface before I give it the full 5.

Amazing!

The app interface is great and once I subscribed on my iPhone I could watch Game of Thrones on my laptop (which is connected to my TV with an HDMI cable) at the same time the new episode premiered on cable. And HBO was ready for the the incredible volume at 9 PM! It streamed in sharp 1080p right away with no delays or lag! HBO never looked better.

They need to fix a lot!

Crashes constantly. It will stop and need to load at least three times an episode. If youre lucky after its done "loading" it will continue playing, but usually it just goes back to the title page and you have to restart the program. Watching episodes are a pain. Unlike Netflix that allows you to automatically play the next episode you have to restart it and go through the process all over again. Got the free trial and wont be renewing, which is sad because I love the content.

Worst app ever

Took 2 hours to watch 1 hour episode. Glad its free for a month.

This is the worst app on my phone. I constantly have to disconnect & reconnect my Chromecast just to pause what Im watching! It never works properly through one show

Horrible sound issues

I started using HBO NOW so I can watch Game of Thrones, but because of the horrible sound issues it is unwatchable. At best, the sound is choppy and out of sync. At worst, it sounds like Im hearing everything through an old clock radio speaker. Ive gone through all of the troubleshooting steps and nothing is wrong on my end and I rarely have problems with any of the other streaming/on demand video services, so what gives?

User Experience is Lacking

Its a great to have this alternative for those who cut cords with the cable and/or satellite companies for TV entertainment. However, this app needs a lot of work. Whenever I cast this to my TV via Google Chromecast, it always disconnects so every time I finish a show I have to reconnect the app. Every single time. The time bar on the bottom also, at times, stays up on screen the entire time. It would also be nice if when youre a series the next episode plays automatically like they do in Netflix. This app could be so much better if it was tweaked to think about the user experience.
