HBO Max: Stream TV & Movies App Reviews

The app is total trash - freezes, crashes. Works fine about 60% of the time but for something Im paying for, shame on HBO for cheating out on the app development. Same goes for HBO Go app - been this way for at least as long as Ive used it (2 years).

If you dont know how to create a good streaming app, just learn from Netflix. I cant put series in the wish list. I cant play next episode without returning to the home page and then search it. Not to forget the crash after exiting the app then going back and if Im broadcasting to Chromecast. Stupid! *Trump Style*

Absolutely horrible. Downloaded the app, and cant even get through creating a profile. Locks up during the process, and when you come back you are stuck in a circular hell. First it tells you to start watching, then when you try it says you need to renew the subscription. When you click on that you go back to the start watching screen, and on and on until eventually you die.

I enjoy having access to HBO anytime or anywhere. The streaming works well and has never given me an issue. It looses points for not allowing me to add an entire series to my watchlist. The other issue I have with this app is that you cannot see what is happening on screen while you redwing or fast forward, essentially making it a guessing game.

All of the sections are organized by alphabetical order instead of most popular and other categories, which Netflix has. The chromecast support is poorly designed, if you close the app at any point during a movie it is impossible to regain controls such as pause and play without stopping the movie altogether and reconnecting. I could go on all day

Kinda pricey but works likes a champ. Mostly watch on Apple TV. It would be nice to add a whole season to my watchlist. Love the layout, my kid loves Sesame Street. Could use a better selection of movies, more recent ones would be nice.

So buggy I cant even open the app. How do you cancel this??? Beware!!

I hope you plan on never pausing your show or movie and getting up in the comfort of your own home to use the restroom or work on dinner, cause if youre casting a movie youll have to reset the entire app every time you choose to do so, completely cutting your movie off and having to go through the whole process of starting it back up. This service costs too much money to be so horrible. HBO needs to get their app up to better standards

This app has all kinds of issues when trying to stream to chromecast. The app constantly restarts and there is no way to fast forward or rewind. HBO should be able to do better than this.

Trying to use with iPhone and chrome cast is so annoying! Cant pause, ft, rewind or it freezes phone and must start over. Cancelling subscription when free trial is over.

Much worse than other casting apps. Buggy and slow.

The app will not stay connected to Chromecast. History is not tracked so I have to remember what episode I watched last. I cant search for actors, directors, etc. The designers should look at featured provided in Netflix and YouTube.

Signed up for the free month. The app works great on my iPhone, but is totally worthless for watching anything on my 3rd generation Apple TV. It will allow me to select a movie an if I’m lucky I will see the “HBO NOW” splash screen before it crashes and I end up back at the Apple TV main menu. While it does work when viewing on my iPhone, it will crash if I try and use airplay as a workaround for viewing on my TV. Need less to say I will not be subscribing when the free trial runs out.

Why the hell would you set it up to where when I start a show it keeps popping up on the latest released episode? Im tired of going to watch something and having to see a spoiler pic.

Plan on canceling. Streaming freezes all the time while at home with the highest speed money can buy.

No words can describe how bad this app is. Not only does it constantly freeze my phone, its clunky, constantly disconnects from Chromecast, seems to have seizures and just so astonishing that a company with so much money can put dollars behind such a terrible platform.

HBO NOW gives you all the great content you enjoy, solid movies, great series, and engaging documentaries, with special added features such as: regular freezing playback! Weird frame rates! And for those who love sound with a frozen picture, HBO NOWs got you covered! If youve ever felt like entertainment would be even better if only you would have to reboot your iPad to finish watching....maybe two or three times per show, this is the service for you! Great internet connections dont stop these exciting new features, HBO NOW really delivers! Thats right, for $15 a month, you can have all bad playback your heart desires, because in the year or so this service has been available, HBO hasnt bothered to make it work properly! Thatll be $15 dollars a month please!

App crashes every time it is reopened after running in the background using chromecast. It will not remain connected/casting, so the show restarts if you begin casting again through the app.
